Three Mobile Mini branches achieve Merits from British Safety Council
Mobile Mini is celebrating this month after three of our UK branches, North West, North East and South Wales, have been awarded a Merit from the British Safety Council.
Now in their 63rd year, the International Safety Awards span all sectors with significant representation from construction, manufacturing, oil, gas, mining, power and utility organisations. This prestigious accolade receives over 500 applications from all around the world with winners being drawn from 37 countries, but only 155 companies achieved Merit status over the past calendar year.
A Merit from the British Safety Council recognises an ongoing commitment to keeping workers and workplaces healthy and safe. This is particularly impressive this year considering the unforeseen obstacles and challenges presented by the coronavirus pandemic over the last 12 months. Recognisable businesses to have successfully obtained passes, merits or distinctions from these awards previously include the likes of BAE Systems, GlaxoSmithKline, Sodexho, Kier, Wilmott Dixon and Volker.
Timothy Mackay, Mobile Mini UK Branch Manager said, “I am delighted we have received this prestigious award for a second year running. Safety is fundamental to everything we do and is part of our golden rules which are: people are our most valuable asset, we don’t hurt anyone, we don’t fail twice, everybody contributes and we celebrate success. I would like to thank the whole team at Mobile Mini North East for contributing to this achievement.”
Paul Abbot, Mobile Mini Senior Branch Manager, North West & Cumbria, said, “We are very honoured to have received the International Safety Award this shows we take our employees and customers safety seriously.”
Paul Carey, Mobile Mini UK Branch Manager, said, “I am so proud of the team at South Wales branch, in cross collaboration with the UK SHEQ team, in being recognised for this award. Safety is paramount for Mobile Mini UK and this award demonstrates the commitment and effort from all staff in ensuring that our working practises are safe for all.”
The International Safety Awards scheme is not an industry requirement and is designed to showcase those companies who go above and beyond to protect employees from the risk of injury and ill health at work, whilst also recognising organisations that show commitment to wellbeing and mental health. All three of the Mobile Mini branches that entered were required to individually answer a robust series of questions about their management of health and safety risks, as well as providing evidence of leadership, change management and engagement to be assessed by a team of independent chartered health and safety professionals.
Proving our qualities
We are pleased to have achieved this endorsement of credibility from an internationally recognised and sought-after awarding body. We believe this benchmark and the illustrious company we find ourselves in, further establishes our unwavering commitment to quality and wellbeing. We have always been proud of our industry-leading health and safety record, but this has become even more integral to expectations post the coronavirus pandemic.
The application process for these awards was significant but had added benefits for our team, as developing these submissions consolidated knowledge even further. Our teams are very focused and driven but do not always take time to reflect on the fantastic achievements that they and the business have made. All of the safety management team have numerous safety qualifications and possess a huge amount of industry knowledge and experience which helps enormously. Subsequently, many of the processes we have introduced are now accepted as the industry standard. This is just one example of why Mobile Mini is synonymous with safety excellence and remains both a supplier and employer of choice.
Congratulations to all three of our branches that have received this acknowledgement and to all of our other sites across the UK, who also consistently operate to these same high standards.
