Mobile Mini, the world’s leading provider of portable accommodation and secure storage solutions with its UK head office in Stockton on Tees, has promoted newly appointed apprentice, Macauley Underwood to National Account Co-ordinator.
Within nine months of starting his apprenticeship at Mobile Mini, the 18 year old from Durham, has successfully secured a promotion. The new role sees Macauley liaising directly with some of Mobile Mini’s largest clients, such as Jewson and Travis Perkins to ensure their container needs are met, while supporting new apprentices and carrying out day-to-day administration.
“My role is so varied and one day is never the same,” said Macauley. “A lot of the time I’ll be on the phone to customers, but I often work alongside new apprentices showing them the ropes, in between updating spreadsheets and keeping on top of admin.”
Macauley is undertaking a Business Administration Apprenticeship through training provider ITEC North East. “I knew the college route wasn’t for me and I’ve found my apprenticeship has really helped me develop in this role. I’ve also learned so much thanks to Mobile Mini’s mentoring programme and the continuous support from my colleagues.”
He continued: “I’m proud of what I’ve achieved working at Mobile Mini so far. Once I’ve finished my apprenticeship, I want to carry on my training and hope to get another promotion in a few years’ time.”
Macauley has quickly proven himself to be a massive asset to the firm. Director of Sales, Frances New, who was impressed with Macauley’s enthusiasm and willingness to learn, was in no doubt the promotion was deserved. “Macauley applied for the job and I was happy to appoint him. This decision was based not on age or experience, but on the ability, work ethic and potential that Macauley has shown since joining Mobile Mini. We value the opportunity to recruit apprentices for training and development as it has such a positive impact on our day-to-day business.”
