Eaton Socon Pre-School
Eaton Socon pre-school is a large early years facility in St Neots, Cambridgeshire, with 100 pupils and 25 members of staff. Ahead of reopening in September 2020 following the coronavirus lockdown, manager Caroline Allanson had to make sure that there was enough room for everyone to follow social distancing guidelines – and a container provided the answer she needed.
As part of our Community Involvement Programme, which supports non-profit or voluntary organisations, we donate containers to good causes free of charge, and we were pleased to be able to help the school out with a container to create that much-needed extra space. To meet the guidelines, pupils and staff at the pre-school were split into three bubbles, which all had to be kept separate from each other.
Caroline said: “During the period of lockdown and the Summer holidays, I had to evaluate how we would operate when we reopened in September.
“The problem that I had was keeping all three bubbles separate, particularly the adults during break time. We have a brand new building, but, to ensure adequate social distancing, I needed another area for one of the staff teams to have their lunch. We also have a high level of children on roll with additional needs, and so I also needed an area for visitors and other professionals to use that would not involve going into the pre-school itself.”
After a thorough internet search, Caroline found the details of her local Mobile Mini branch in East Anglia and got in touch to see if we could help – and were only too pleased to lend a hand! Caroline added: “The sales rep I spoke to was so incredibly helpful and talked through what was available – she really went out of her way to find the right cabin to suit our needs.
“Everything was so simple; I completed the order on the phone and delivery was arranged to suit my diary. The driver who delivered the unit was so efficient, helpful and polite, and the container itself is really unobtrusive and blends right in. While we’re still under the Covid restrictions, we’re using the unit for staff lunches for one of our bubbles and for any professional meetings we need to hold on site.
