Popular Indie festival Kendal Calling is right around the corner; and for the thousands of music fans in attendance, storage containers and accommodation units will become a familiar sight, with festivals having many uses for both.
Founded in 2006, Kendal Calling has grown from a two-day, 900 capacity event to a 3 day extravaganza of some of the world’s hottest artists. Previous line-ups have featured Calvin Harris, Snoop Dogg and Mumford & Sons, and the beautiful setting of Lowther Deer Park in The Lake District provides the perfect backdrop for great music and memories.
This year, it’s estimated that around 13,000 people will flock to the North West for the festival’s 10th anniversary. With bands like Brit award winners Catfish and The Bottlemen, classic indie outfit The Charlatans and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, they shouldn’t be disappointed.
Festivals have a range of uses for storage containers and portable units. One thing containers will be used for a lot is storing musical equipment. The secure nature of storage containers make them ideal for keeping expensive electrical equipment like lighting rigs, amps and speakers safe. Also, due to the nature of the Great British Summer, they will more than likely need to be kept dry, and containers will help protect expensive equipment from rain damage.
Accommodation units are likely to be used for offices for festival control, staff canteens, first aid rooms, information centres, dressing rooms and interview areas backstage. Mobile Mini’s portable accommodation units all feature electricity and insulation, making them perfect for such uses. Mobile Mini alone have provided 14 units in total for a variety of uses at Kendal Calling.
With over 10 thousand people crowding into the festival, catering services will be pushed to the limit. Food will need to be stored in safe and hygienic conditions. Accommodation units fitted with refrigeration and freezer units can be used for this purpose.
