Life Behind the Box – My Summer Internship at Mobile Mini

Meet Harry, a 17 year old Career Ready student, who joined the marketing team this summer.

Career Ready, are a UK wide charity that links employers with schools and colleges, to open up the world of work to young people.  Mobile Mini offered Harry, a six-week internship over the holidays.

Here we hear about Harry’s time at Mobile Mini:

“The Mobile Mini life has been an experience that I will never forget. Over the last six weeks, I have been fortunate enough to fulfil a life-changing paid internship with this company in the fantastic marketing department.

Before the process, I had hardly ever left my home-town of Middlesbrough. Now, I’ve been to Stockton-on-Tees, Seal Sands, Newcastle, Wakefield and more. Every day has been a unique experience and I’ve never once felt bored or useless.

I was given a number of interesting projects to complete.  Throughout my many tasks, I’ve pitched a proposal in the board room, learned all about the world of online marketing with a digital agency, updated the website, went on numerous product and PR photoshoots, used Ad Words, WordPress and Google Analytics and now I’m writing this blog. In just six weeks, I can’t quantify just how much I’ve learned.

I applied to Career Ready through my college as an additional programme. Once I was enrolled with Career Ready, I knew I’d be receiving an internship, but I didn’t realise it would be as instrumental in  building my character as it was at Mobile Mini.

I realise that six weeks may sound like a tiny time period to have such a massive impact.  However, to me, I’m a 17 year old who has genuinely  acquired many, many invaluable skills. Looking back to my first day, I was nervous and apprehensive, with no clear plans ahead, I can now say I’m leaving a much more confident, more knowledgeable, more ambitious and incredibly lucky individual. It’s all down to Mobile Mini and I can’t thank them enough. Thanks to everyone for making me feel so at home and best of luck in the future!”
