Mobile Mini Supporting SANDS

Mobile Mini staff have recently been making a huge effort to raise money for the SANDS charity through a number of events.

SANDS is a stillbirth and neonatal death charity supporting anyone affected by the death of a baby, working to improve the care bereaved parents receive, and promoting research to reduce the loss of babies’ lives. The East Midlands branch in particular wanted to make a special effort to raise money for the fantastic charity and support the many people who lose a baby.

Laura Moore and the East Midlands team set up a Just Giving page back in January where donations could be made.

Alongside fundraising efforts, a blind auction for iPads took place in June. A total of 16 iPads were up for grabs with a starting bid of £50 and everyone across all branches were welcome to bid. The auction included a wide variety of iPads, such as an iPad Air, iPad Air 2, iPad Air with sim card functionality etc. All payments were made via the Just Giving page and 100% of the proceeds went to the SANDS charity. The auction was a massive success and every single iPad was bid on, resulting in a huge £1400 to contribute to the East Midland’s fundraising efforts.

On Saturday 6th July, 20 members of the Mobile Mini team from the East Midlands branch and the wider business took part in the Water Wipeout Challenge. This is an ‘X Runner’ event which took place at Holme Pierrepont ‘UK National Water Sport Centre.’ Water Wipeout is a 10km extreme water obstacle race consisting of water rapids, climbing frames, mud slides and more. The run up to the event was very highly anticipated and staff found the day fun but also, unsurprisingly, challenging. The Mobile Mini team took sponsorship money for the event, with all proceeds going to SANDS. All staff involved should be commended for their amazing efforts.

The target on the Just Giving page was £3,500. However, through fundraising, donations via the auction, and sponsorships, they have smashed their target by a mile. It has hit over £5,000! The page is still up and running, and donations are continuing. A big thank you to anyone who has generously sponsored or donated, whether big or small.
